General
UptimeWarden tracks the availability and performance of websites, APIs and services, sends alerts when checks detect problems, and publishes status pages; on-call rotations are included from Hobby up. Every plan also includes Wardy, an assistant you can ask about your monitors, and postmortem drafts, each with a plan allowance.
UptimeWarden supports 10 monitoring types: HTTP/HTTPS for websites and APIs, TCP/UDP for ports, SSL for certificates, DNS for record verification (A/AAAA/CNAME/MX/NS/TXT), Ping for network reachability, Heartbeat for cron jobs (inverse monitoring, your job pings us, we alert on silence), plus specialized probes for real-time apps (WebSocket), microservices (gRPC), and AI agent services (MCP).
Check intervals vary by plan: Free (3 minutes), Hobby (2 minutes), Starter (2 minutes), Professional (1 minute), Enterprise (30 seconds). Notification timing also depends on failure confirmation and your alert settings.
For HTTP/HTTPS monitoring, we track response times, HTTP status codes, content validation, SSL certificate health, and redirect chains. We also analyze security headers on every plan and provide detailed performance metrics.
Data retention by plan: Free (30 days), Hobby (90 days), Starter (90 days), Professional (180 days), Enterprise (unlimited). Historical data includes response times, availability stats, and incident history.
All plans include access to documentation. Professional plan includes priority support. Enterprise plan includes dedicated support and account management.

Technical
Monitoring agents are lightweight processes that run health checks on your services from different locations. They enable multi-region monitoring to detect location-specific issues. Agent limits vary by plan - check our pricing page for details. You can also purchase additional agent packs as add-ons.
We operate 6 monitoring regions. Each monitor runs from its assigned region. When a check fails, other regions repeat it before the alert goes out, and the alert says whether they confirmed the failure. From Hobby up, when most regions can reach the site, the alert is held and checked again five minutes later. That helps keep a problem near one location, such as a regional network issue, a CDN edge or DNS propagation, from paging you.
When a check fails, other regions repeat it before we alert you. Most alerts are confirmed from at least two regions. An alert we cannot confirm is still sent, labelled unverified. How many regions take part depends on your plan. Free uses two regions: the second can confirm an alert but never holds one back. Hobby uses a fixed threshold, and Starter and above can change it. Choosing the region a monitor runs from is available on Professional (up to 5 regions) and Enterprise (all regions).
Yes. Define one-time or recurring weekly maintenance windows on any monitor. Checks still run during the window but notifications are suppressed, no false pages during your deploy nights or planned downtime.
Yes. Create a weekly rotation assigning users to each day of the week, then build an ordered escalation chain (for example, primary on-call, secondary, then manager) with configurable wait times between steps. Emails include a one-click acknowledgement link so any responder can stop the chain without logging in.
Yes. Every webhook is signed with HMAC-SHA256 (V2) over a timestamp and the raw body. Your endpoint verifies the signature and rejects payloads older than 5 minutes, the same replay-protection approach used across the industry. A legacy V1 body-only signature is sent alongside V2 for backwards compatibility.
Heartbeat monitoring is for scheduled tasks, cron jobs, and background processes. Instead of UptimeWarden checking your service, your job pings a unique heartbeat URL when it completes. If a ping is missed within the expected interval, you receive an alert. Perfect for monitoring backups, data syncs, or any recurring tasks.
When an upstream service goes down, dependent monitors are tagged "cascade-suppressed" and their alerts are suppressed. The upstream incident still sends an alert. Each affected incident records the suppression in its audit trail. Administrators can turn this setting on or off for the account.
For problems that build up slowly, yes: a response time that stays well above its usual level, a certificate that should have renewed and has not, or a share of failed checks that keeps rising for days. These early warnings are on every plan and never page anyone. On Professional and Enterprise, each monitor also has a health forecast: its uptime trend and a risk level with the reasons behind it. Sudden outages, such as a crash or a bad deploy, give no warning and cannot be predicted.
Wardy is an assistant you can ask about your monitoring data in plain language: "Which monitors had the most incidents last week?" or "Show me SSL certificates expiring in 30 days." Answers appear as they are written, you can ask follow-up questions, and Wardy shows which data it looked at. It reads your data through a fixed set of tools, sees the monitors you created and their incidents (not monitors a teammate shared with you), and answers product questions from our documentation. With your confirmation, it can acknowledge incidents and pause or resume monitors. Every plan includes Wardy with a daily allowance: 10 questions on Free, 15 on Hobby, 25 on Starter, 50 on Professional and no daily limit on Enterprise. Your plan's monthly AI credits also cap them; on Free they cover about 60 questions a month.
Yes. When an incident that lasted five minutes or more is resolved, a postmortem draft is written: a timeline, what was affected and a likely cause, each point linked to the check results and events it came from, with unsupported points marked. You can also create a draft from any resolved incident, then edit it and decide what to publish. Every plan includes drafts: 1 a month on Free and Hobby and 3 on Starter; Professional and Enterprise have no monthly count. Drafts you generate by hand use AI credits; automatic drafts do not. Drafts are written only after you turn on AI processing in your profile.
Yes. Set an availability target per monitor and UptimeWarden computes an error budget plus Google SRE multi-window burn-rate alerts (fast 5m/1h and slow 6h/3d windows must agree before paging). A live budget gauge shows remaining error budget and current burn rate. Available on Professional and Enterprise plans.
We automatically track your SSL certificate expiration dates and chain validity. You receive alerts at 30, 15, 7, and 1 day before expiration. Check our pricing page for SSL monitoring availability.
Security headers analysis scans your website's HTTP security headers including CSP, HSTS, X-Frame-Options, and more. You receive a grade (A+ to F) with specific recommendations to improve your security posture. Check our pricing page to see which plans include this feature.
Our incident management system creates one incident per problem and uses deduplication to prevent duplicate alerts. When a monitor recovers, the incident is automatically resolved. Check our pricing page to see which plans include incident management.
Status pages are public-facing pages that display the real-time status of your services. You can customize branding (colors, logo, custom CSS and HTML), connect a custom domain, choose which monitors to display, and communicate scheduled maintenance. Every plan includes status pages: 1 on Free, 2 on Hobby, 3 on Starter, 10 on Professional and unlimited on Enterprise. A custom domain is available on Professional and Enterprise.
Yes. REST API access is included on every plan, including Free. It lets you programmatically create monitors, query metrics, manage notification channels, and integrate UptimeWarden with your existing tools and workflows.
Wardy, postmortem drafts, suggested reasons and grouped-alert hints run only after you turn on AI processing in your profile, and you can turn it off at any time. Requests include only the monitoring context needed, with pattern-based masking of common sensitive identifiers; masking cannot guarantee detection of every personal or secret value. AI requests go only to Microsoft Azure. The AI service does not store your prompts or outputs, and they are not used to train models. Only what you start yourself uses your plan's monthly AI credits: Wardy questions, postmortem drafts you generate, the security header analysis and status page drafts; automatic drafts and hints do not. Your account shows how much has been used, and an account-scoped audit trail records AI operations. All models run on Microsoft Azure and use the same consent and masking controls.
Domain monitoring tracks your domain's WHOIS information and alerts you before expiration. It helps ensure you never lose a domain due to an expired registration. Check our pricing page to see which plans include this feature.
Integrations
We support Email, SMS, WhatsApp, Voice Calls, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Telegram, Webhooks, and Push Notifications (mobile app). Email, SMS, WhatsApp, Voice and Push each have their own monthly quota; Slack, Microsoft Teams, Telegram and custom webhooks share one webhook quota, since all four are webhook deliveries. See our pricing page for detailed limits.
You can configure custom HTTP webhooks to send monitoring events to any endpoint. Webhooks support custom headers, authentication, and JSON payloads. The number of webhooks you can configure varies by plan - see our pricing page for limits.
All plans include team features with varying limits for teams and team members. You can invite colleagues, assign roles, and collaborate on monitoring. Check our pricing page for the specific team and member limits for each plan.
The number of notification channels you can configure varies by plan. This is the total number of configured notification destinations (e.g., multiple Slack channels count separately). See our pricing page for specific limits.
Enterprise plan offers on-premise deployment options with custom branding, white-label support, and dedicated infrastructure. Contact our sales team for details.
Yes. Our mobile app is available for iOS and Android. Features include real-time monitor status, push notifications, incident acknowledgment, and biometric authentication.
